GWO BST (Basic Safety Training)

Following the course participants will be able to support and care for themselves and others working in the industry by possessing the knowledge and skills of first aid, safe working at heights, manual handling, fire awareness, sea survival (as applicable) and in case of an emergency, to be able to evacuate, rescue and provide appropriate first aid to casualties. The GWO Basic Safety Training is divided into the following modules:

GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) Refresher

​

The aim of BST-R is to review and build on previously gained knowledge and skills from BST through theoretical and practical training. This BST-R training shall enable participants to support and care for themselves and others working in the industry by possessing the knowledge and skills of first aid, working at heights, manual handling, fire awareness, sea survival (as applicable) and in case of an emergency, to be able to evacuate, rescue and provide appropriate first aid to casualties. The GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher Standard is divided into the following modules:

✅ Manual Handling Refresher

✅ Fire Awareness Refresher

✅ Working at Height Refresher​

On successful completion of the training you will receive a GWO Certificate of Attendance, PLUS the following RTO units of competency-
 

✅ HLTWHS005 - Conduct manual tasks safely

✅ HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

✅ HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support

✅ HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid

✅ RIIWHS204E - Work safely at heights

✅ CPPFES2005 - Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment

✅ UETDRMP018 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel

GWO BST Standard Modules:

GWO BST Manual Handling
The aim of this Module is to encourage positive Manual Handling and ergonomic behavior, encourage participants to consider alternatives to manual handling through planning and to train Participants ability to perform Manual Handling tasks in a safe manner in the wind turbine industry/environment.

GWO BST First Aid
The aim of this BST Module is to enable Participants to administer safe and effective First Aid in the wind turbine industry/ WTG environment, in accordance with GWO First Aid training through theoretical and practical training. Furthermore, this training will enable the delegate to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

GWO BST Fire Awareness
The aim of this course is to give the Participants the basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training. Participants should be able to prevent fires, make appropriate judgements when evaluating a fire, manage evacuation of personnel and ensure all are safely accounted for in the event of an unmanageable fire. If the incident is judged to be safe, the Participants should be able to efficiently extinguish an initial fire by using basic hand held fire fighting equipment.

GWO BST Work at Height
The aim of this module is to qualify the participants, through theoretical and practical training, to use basic personal protective equipment and perform safe work at heights and safe and comprehensive basic rescue from heights in a remote wind turbine environment.
